Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?

Coaching is a structured, confidential conversation that is forward-focused, solutions-based and helps you find your own answers and create a plan to achieve your goals.

It helps you clarify what matters, think more strategically, and move forward with purpose. Rather than giving you answers, coaching creates the space for you to reflect, test ideas, strengthen your thinking and commit to meaningful action.

The relationship is built on trust, openness and accountability. It is your space to step back, gain perspective and focus on what will make the greatest difference.

What is not coaching?

  • Therapy or counselling (which focuses on healing the past)

  • Consulting (where someone tells you what to do)

  • Mentoring (where advice is shared from personal experience)

  • Training (which follows a fixed curriculum)

  • Performance management or evaluation

In coaching, you remain the expert in your world. My role is to support, challenge and guide your thinking so you can lead with greater clarity and confidence

How many coaching sessions are right for me?

This depends on your goals, level of complexity and the depth of change you’re seeking.

3 sessions
Ideal for focused support on a specific issue — such as preparing for a key transition, navigating a difficult conversation, clarifying direction, or building confidence in a defined area.

6 sessions
Recommended for meaningful development and sustained progress. This allows time to build insight, apply new strategies, reflect, and embed changes in behaviour and mindset.

9 sessions
Best suited to significant leadership growth, major transitions, or navigating complexity over time. This depth enables lasting shifts in mindset, resilience, strategic capability and leadership presence.

If you’re unsure, we can discuss what feels right during your complimentary introductory conversation.

Who is executive coaching for?

Coaching supports leaders at many stages of their journey:

  • CEOs and C-Suite Leaders

Focused on strategy, vision, organisational direction and leading through uncertainty. Coaching provides space to think at altitude while staying grounded in execution.

  • Senior Leaders

Supporting those stepping into broader responsibility. Common focus areas include executive presence, strategic influence, communication, navigating complexity and preparing for future advancement.

  • Leaders in Transition

For those newly appointed to senior roles. Coaching supports onboarding, stakeholder relationships, prioritisation, team dynamics and understanding organisational context.

  • First-Time Leaders

Helping technical experts shift into leadership. Focus areas include mindset, leading others, communication, confidence, and developing strategic awareness.

Across all levels, Adaptive Stability strengthens mindset, flexibility and resilience — increasing both confidence and performance.

What results can I expect?

Leaders typically experience:

  • Greater clarity in decision-making

  • Increased confidence and executive presence

  • Stronger communication and stakeholder relationships

  • Improved strategic thinking

  • Reduced overwhelm and greater calm under pressure

  • Clearer priorities and forward momentum

Progress depends on your commitment to reflection and action between sessions. Coaching works best when you are ready to engage fully in the process.

What is my return on investment?

The research overwhelmingly demonstrates that executive coaching leads to measurable improvements in leadership capabilities, business outcomes, and organisational performance. Companies that invest in coaching for their leaders see significant returns in terms of productivity, employee engagement, and overall effectiveness.

Here are a few statistics on the Return on Investment (ROI) of executive coaching from recent studies:

  • A study by the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) found that coaching has a 221% ROI.

  • Coached executives showed a 50% improvement in leadership behaviour, which had a substantial impact on business performance. 95% of respondents saw direct benefits to their organization from executive coaching, with improvements in communication, teamwork, relationships, and job satisfaction.

  • Over 70% of individuals who received coaching benefited from improved work performance, relationships, and more effective communication skills.

Beyond measurable outcomes, many leaders describe coaching as invaluable for maintaining perspective, clarity and steady leadership in complex environments.

What are the benefits of 1:1 executive coaching?

1:1 coaching gives you something most leaders rarely have — uninterrupted space to think.

It is tailored entirely to you. Your goals. Your context. Your challenges. Your leadership style.

Key benefits include:

  • A confidential space to speak openly and think clearly

  • Greater self-awareness and insight into your leadership patterns

  • Stronger decision-making in complex or high-pressure situations

  • Increased confidence and executive presence

  • Practical strategies to manage stress and sustain energy

  • Clearer priorities and sharper strategic focus

  • Support through transitions, growth or uncertainty

  • Accountability to follow through on what matters most

Unlike group programs or training courses, 1:1 coaching adapts as you evolve. It meets you where you are and grows with you.
